Every year on the 6th of January the tradition has the Archbishop Teodosie throw the Holy Cross in the freezing water and a few brave young men race to get it. The one to get to the cross first receives the priest’s blessing for good luck year long. For everyone’s safety and to avoid hypothermia, the ones who jump in the water in Constanta are professional divers.
